New Jersey's community colleges, through the NJ Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development, the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA), and the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development (NJDLWD) announce a new training program to help qualified New Jersey veterans get back to work.

The pilot program will initially be launched at Middlesex County College in February.  The 12-week program will prepare New Jersey veterans for entry into careers at New Jersey fabricated metal product manufacturing companies.  The training was developed by experienced community college faculty and companies representing the NJBIA Manufacturing Network, which comprises more than 3,000 New Jersey manufacturers.

Successful graduates of this program will receive a College Certificate of Competency and sit for the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Certification Exam.

Interested candidates should contact Veronica Jones, NJ state veterans representative, at 1-732-418-3359, or e-mail veronica.jones@dol.state.nj.us, for a complete list of admission requirements, a program description and prescreening.  The admissions requirements are also available via www.njworkforce.org - just click on "New Fabricated Metal Product Manufacturing Training Program."

Prescreened candidates will be invited to an information session with the employers, college and NJDLWD later in January.

The NJ Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development, a central one-stop contact, develops and delivers education and training programs to New Jersey businesses, agencies and organizations.  New Jersey's community colleges formed the Consortium in 2004 to provide workforce training to businesses large and small in the Garden State.
